Singer Lady Gaga has revealed she was inspired to immediately begin writing new music following the overturning of a controversial anti gay-marriage law in the US.
The Proposition 8 legislation made it illegal for same-sex couples to get married in the state of California.
But a US federal judge has now ruled the law unconstitutional.
“At the moments notice of prop 8 death I instantly began to write music,” the singer, a long-time supporter of gay rights, told her fans on Twitter.
“Rejoice and celebrate gay communities and straight all over the world. Our voices are being heard! Loud!” she added.
Earlier this year, Gaga offered her support to a US teenager who was sent home from school for wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “I Love Lady Gay Gay”.
Lady Gaga is currently on a world tour which sees her come to the UK later this year, starting with a gig at Odyssey in Belfast on October 30th.
Katy Perry put down her foot on Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro”video. The music star said she was “downright” offended by the music video.
In an interview with the Rolling Stone, Perry explains “I think when you put sex and spirituality in the same bottle and shake it up, bad things happen.
“Yes, I said I kissed a girl. But I didn’t say I kissed a girl while f**king a crucifix.” Perry was referring to her hit single “I Kissed a Girl.” She also once donned a squirting cupcake brassiere for one of her music video.

The pop star’s roots are in gospel music and she was raised by Christian pastor parents.
Ironically, in an article that appeared in New York Times, Katy Perry is one of the female artists cited that had been influenced by Lady Gaga. “[Lady Gaga] has nudged loose conventional boundaries. The space for women in pop to try out new aesthetic identities hasn’t been this vast in some time.”
